yes there is usually performance and compatibility problems since your running software on something it was never designed for. its a way to let software designed for Windows to run without even having Windows. When your running Windows its just like any other normal PC, because thats what it is. Its Apple's term for "dual boot" Just like Linux users can install Windows and use it instead of Linux. ![]() I’ve installed Hassio on an old mac mini. What would this Proxmox thing do for me if anything? Since I now have most of the computer hardware (may be getting some more drives for storage and setting up a RAID) I have now come to the part of how to best set it up and that has left me with a number of questions:ĭo I keep running OS X El Capitan and run everything on the local host or VMs or a combination thereof? (Side note: I work with VMs at work and am comfortable using them)ĭo I use Virtual Box or get VMware or Parallels?ĭo I wipe the hard drive and install Linux or Window (not so much thinking this one)?ĭo I use Boot Camp with another OS and boot straight to it?ĭo I use Docker with a VM or Boot Camp or at all? (Expensive but cheaper than a Synology)Īlong with HA I plan on having it handle a camera NVR (such as Blue Iris?) and a media server such as Plex. After looking at a lot of hardware options including but not limited to laptops, Macs, PCs, Synology, Raspberry Pi and so on, I decided to buy a used Mac Pro for $200 and through a WD Blue 500 GB SSD in it for another $70. I’m preparing to set up Home Assistant in a house I’m about to buy. ![]() If you don't, I really like the Canary UI. If you do, then Outlook probably is best for you. It all depends on your usage at the end of the day, and if you tend to work a lot with Excel, if you use your email as a task manager, etc. I found offline handling of the "Archive" folder problematic with Postbox, Canary did not have an option to designate folders to keep offline, etc. If you're using Exchange or Gmail, you will unlikely face this issue. This has more to do with the email server architecture my company uses (it's a proprietary IMAP architecture). ![]() ![]() Other email clients tend not to work too well with Excel (copies as images), and with HTML tables, etc.Īlthough this is not necessarily the case for everyone, I had issues with folder synchronization. By that, I mean Excel tables copy as tables, HTML content (mainly tables) copies as HTML tables. It's the only client that has "real rich text editor" capability. I ultimately settled with MS Outlook for two reasons: All have pros and cons, with my least favorite of the bunch being Spark. I tried MS Outlook, Airmail, Spark, Postbox, and Canary Mail, to name a few. I get a lot of system generated notifications, and I need to keep tabs on a lot of topics/issues. To give context, I average around 250 emails per business day. I've tried every email client I could get my hands on.
